I have this problem for more than 5 years and its been very hard l take the best care of myself when walking and deciding about when to do hip replacement which does make me think alot lm not sure when it does scare me a bit any operation is very serious business and have to find the right experienced doctor suitable for this procedure
Very informative - thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!

This is very commonly causes by a repetitive or overuse mechanism, such as coughing

Hi.. I do get dull pain in my lower rib on my right side but I also get sharp pain in the middle of my back next to my shoulder blade.especially after I have ben sitting down and get up..... Is this costochodritis or something else... Thank
Yes, this can be accompanied with stiffness/tightness in the back (thoracic joints). Some people find relief with mobilizing these areas
My right chest hurts. I don't know if it's muscles or ribs, but it happens at least twice a week, especially when I take deep breaths, lie down, or make upper body movements. It feels like burning, stabbing, or I don't know how to say it, but it's a really sharp pain. It's been two years. At first, it was once a month, but now it's more often. Doctors do not have an exact answer. I hope this goes away as soon as possible.😢
This condition can very extremely frustrating. For more severe/chronic cases the only thing we have found to help is too slowly strengthen the cartilage and it usually takes many, many months.
@@PerformanceSportSpine Thank you for the reply.. i will try
Thank you very much for these tips. Great exercises. I already feel more mobility in my mild FAI issue..
You are most welcome! That's great news that you are feeling more mobility.
i have pars defect L5 on both left and right sides. Will the rehab exercises help me?
Yes they will. Let us know if you have any questions along the way.
I injured my inner ankle (right foot) while over stretching and it cracked/popped. I feels sensitive to put weight on it but it’s manageable to walk on how long should I wait before starting exercises? (This injury happened the same day as this comment)
Hard to say for certain, if there is no bruising I would try in about 5-7 days. Start light and see how the ankle feels the next morning. Adjusting accordingly
My right knee is bone on bone. I can’t use the step or kneel down. What are alternative exercises I could do

QUESTION: For the isometric external rotation, do you keep a slight bend in your knees?
Yes, have them bent slightly for that exercise
Subbed!
Thank you!
I have three bone spurs in my hip and I've been told I have arthritis in both my hips. My pain is all throughout the night. My hip will ache and it's very difficult to sleep. What's odd is I have a very good range of motion
Does it hurt more if you lay on your side then on your back or stomach?
@@PerformanceSportSpine Now the only relief I get is if I only have my stomach but the problem with that is I have sleep apnea so I can't do that for very long
Is this safe for pregnant women?
Most likely but we would recommend you asking your doctor first before performing them.
What about The Dead Bug exercise? I do that because I have heard it helps.
Yes that can be a good exercise. Will probably want to progress to more difficult/weight bearing exercises at some point

I have this type of headache (cervicogenic) combined with pain and tension in the upper trapezius. Actually, the first time I had this was last year. It lasted for a few weeks and was relieved with acupuncture. After several months, it came back and went away after a few weeks. Now, it has returned again. Is it normal for this pain to come and go after several months? I'm aware that I have poor posture and I'm also a bit anxious. I'll start doing the strengthening exercises you recommend. I usually play tennis, and that also triggers the pain. Lately, I've been doing pull-ups, and I'm afraid to continue because I don't know if it will worsen this pain further.
This is common to be episodic and come and go. The key is active self-management by having good posture, identify the triggers and utilizing the stretches/exercises we suggest. As well as OTC medication as need in a safe manner.
👍👍👍👍
Cheers!
wow yup have this and is very annoying do wing chun and feels better when moving a lot but laying down seems to set it off etc don’t remember ever doing any damage and had no scan

Great vid. Can a biked hip affect L5 S1 Foraminal stenosis? I have lld due to a hiked hip
Thank you. You should be able to, just stop if the back and or leg pain worsen
@PerformanceSportSpine sorry that's meant to say a hiked hip. My left pelvic bone is higher than my right resulting in right leg being shorter. I have compression on the left exiting nerve at L5 S1. Could the left pelvic bone being higher be a factor of this?
@@Deanosthegreat If the nerve root is being compression from bony growth or a disc issue than no. Sometime with severe hip hikes it can play a role
@PerformanceSportSpine Thanks, I'll have to find out as my MRI report just says bilateral neural foraminal stenosis with compression on the left exiting nerve. States no disc or spinal canal issues so non the wiser atm. Thank you
Awesome video. Thank you!
Thank you too!
I just started golfing again after not swinging a club all Winter and I’m pretty sure thats how I hurt my hamstring. It’s in the area you are talking about plus off and on burning down the back side of my leg and I feel it some in my groin - all right side. This sucks, it’s been 4 weeks and never really lets up. I work out 5 days a week and pretty active so this is frustrating. I have a doctors appointment this week just to make sure nothing else is going on - but I’m pretty sure this is a golfing injury. (Plus my lower back has been in rough shape for 20yrs from a gym injury doing deadlifts)
Definitely smart to get it checked out, especially if the pain has been going on for 4 weeks. In regards to your groin pain, this video will help you understand what issue is causing it. ua-cam.com/video/9YeyecaxEGw/v-deo.htmlsi=_h4p2Yzsfxtu-i4-
Great video thanks! I have just been diagnosed with bilateral neural foraminal stenosis L5 S1 with compression on the left exiting nerve. I have no pain/disc bulges but i do have pins ans needles in the left leg. Can this cause cauda equina?
Thank you! Cauda equina is usually caused by a severe and acute disc herniation. Also, thank you for subscribing.
@PerformanceSportSpine Thank you for replying and no problem! Great content!

Can we do weights while doing these exersices? Or should we wait until we reacj the last Phase ?
Yes you can lift weights during. And modify as needed
Dude you look exactly like Trent Baretta
Cheers!
Great presentation, thank you so much! Question, as you progress through the exercises, like the step-ups, would you continually increase the height or at some point I assume you would add additional weight? Similar for the chair squats assume at some point you would increase the reps and/or weight to continue to improve?
Thank you! Adding weight is a great option to increase the difficulty. As well as adding reps, sets, slower tempo or a higher step. Yes progress when you feel your body is ready for an additional challenge
Hi there , it is normal to have a muscle spasm often?
Hard to say.
Thanks for this informative video❤
Glad it was helpful!
I just started working at a warehouse working 4x10s and I walk about 10 miles a day moving boxes around and started getting these pains.. man does it really hinder my ability to keep a steady pace at times. Guessing in my case my body will just get used to it over time and it should go away?
Yeah, your body will adapt to the new stressors over time. With this, I think the biggest thing is make sure you get as much rest and recovery between shifts. Wishing you a speedy recovery
@@PerformanceSportSpine wow thank you so much for actually responding! I’m actually very limited on my test time as we just had a baby recently so I’m sleeping about 5 hours max a day but cold plunging everyday and cupping a few times a week does seem to help my muscles recover a bit quicker.. I’ll probably look for a supplement for my joints as well as I am feeling some soreness at some spots. Definitely going to subscribe as the fact that you responded shows you care! Thank you very very much
@@erickgonzalez7645 Thanks for subscribing! We really appreciate it.

Excellent information 👌 The audio cuts are more often than not terrible :(
Thank you!
Great exercises. I can’t do deadlifts or squats without very uncomfortable pain.
Sorry to hear that, if it is the hamstring that is stopping you. These will help. Thanks for the comment!
This video was what I needed. I had neck pain first, probably from doing too much gardening, which I haven't done in forever (plus I'm 70). Anyway I then got a bad headache , which is concerning. I'm not sure how long it takes for the neck pain to heal, I have been using ice, which seems to help. I'll have to look into those exercises after I recover.
Glad you found it beneficial and explained your condition. Yes let the neck take the time it needs to heal and then do the exercises.
I have been told to avoid back extension, this is in response to the supermans. I have been told I have either L5 L6 spondy or L5 S1 from a different practitioner. I have tried hip extension bridges weighted and back extn from a flexed position but I am afraid to do back extn and I have been avoiding twisting to as I have been told I have an l5 facet fracture. These are new dx for me and I work as an OT so I have patients with back fractures on a regular basis on my caseload.
We would recommend get a flexion/extension x-ray done of your lumbar spine (low back). That can determine is the spongy is stable or not. Also depends on the Grade. If it is a grade 1 it will likely not limit and activities.
I had done my extension nd flexion xray. I hv unstable grade 1 spondylisthesis at L5s1...will be this exercises helpful for me?

@@PerformanceSportSpine thanks!
"The tissues are pissed off" - thanks for the laugh. Perfect description. I really appreciate your clear and well illustrated explanations. Is it possible for someone to have hip bursitis (which shows up as "mild" from an ultrasound), SI joint pain, and perhaps a disc herniation in lumbar spine. I function quite well during day, but the pain is not fun at night. Hard to find a comfortable sleeping position.
haha, happy to hear that. Thanks for the nice comment. Yes you can definitely have more than one thing gong on. Also for the hip bursitis, if it has been going on for a while it is highly likely that the gluteal tendon and muscle are involved. This video will help: ua-cam.com/video/l5Me8a1Hui4/v-deo.htmlsi=SngKWXJNnKZVZBek
Is there a difference in treatment between rotator cuff tendonitis and tendonosis?
Some. Tendonitis is usually more acute, so just letting the tendon calm down bymodifying the load management. With tendinosis, usually more chronic with structural changes to the tendon, require exercises with progressive intensity increases to improve the capacity of the tendon.
Lifting weight with out stretched arm help the most. So thanks.
That great, glad it was helpful!
How important is stretching the hip flexors in addition to strengthening? Thank you! Great video!
Great question. With FAI impingement the tightness or loss of range of motion is caused by bony changes, not a loss of flexibility. So stretching them isn't normally that important. However, if you find they you like stretching, then continue to do so. Just be carefully in not over stretching at end-range
C section 6month only over pain
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Why is it always assumed excess weight is a cause. My weight was fine until mobility was severely restricted. Weight increase is often a consequence of the health system’s inability to treat the symptoms of the patient!
We explicit talk about how this condition is multifactorial and not caused by one thing in the video
